Nice game, but there are some weird glitches that has caused me some unfair deaths. For example, sometimes, I, or the enemy, will just have fast, big, or small bullets. If I am using Atomizer, it is more likely for the enemy to randomly have small bullets. If I have Charge, it is more likely for the enemy to randomly have fast bullets, and it goes for most other upgrades. Usually, after something like this happens, it will continue to happen randomly in further games, only stopping after I reload.

Those are definitely some weird glitches. Sounds like the enemies are leeching off your upgrades (not intended btw). Complete transparency: I don't plan on updating this game any time soon but if I do I will make sure to fix these issues. Thanks for the heads up!

Oh, okay. I should also mention that sometimes I don't even need to have an upgrade before, sometimes it just randomly does that (like I had a run once where the enemies' bullets were always around Charge speed despite me not having Charge in that run or previous runs).

Pretty fun, very easy to become ridiculously OP

I'm glad you enjoyed! That's definitely the fun part :)

Indeed I was going to include a screenshot of my entire screen being filled with cats, but apparently didn't manage to get the shot.

There is a minigun? I have never seen it in the shop before.

Whenever I took the golf club, I took 2 damage as soon as I shot and got knocked in the opposite direction as I shot

Money = Power is HORRIFIC

yep it's a bit op

Hm, daily challenge froze today as soon as I picked up the 'start dot'

(+1)

uh oh, I'll look into it

Still frozen as of today. No rush, just sayin' it was not only that previous day.

oh jeez, so sorry about that

Still broken

Hey that's a great game!
I have a game with similar mechanics https://beorgames.itch.io/hero-battle-fantasy-arena and I'd love your feedback.

I also found a glitch at the end of a level, after taking the upgrade Plan Ahead the level finished, but the doors didn't appear.

Here's the error log

index.js:354 **WARNING**: Font oversampling does not work in "Viewport" stretch mode, only "2D". To remove this warning, disable Rendering > Quality > Dynamic Fonts > Use Oversampling in the Project Settings.

onPrintError @ index.js:354

oh man I'll look into the doors not spawning. I don't believe the font oversampling is the issue but I'll try and fix it. Thanks!

Oh, nice synergy, of sorts. I got both Coin Galore and Raining Health. Now nothing spawns anymore. Realized it only after playing a round with them ;-)

Perfect synergy. Everyone should run this for an extra challenge lol

Found a glitch. Sometimes when I start a new game I somtimes shoot big bullets (like HUGE Boy) or small bullets (like Atomizer). This also seems to happen to enemies.

is this happening when you start a challenge or when you start a normal run? Is this also happening like when you do your first run or is it after you have played for a couple runs?

It happens on both challenges and normal runs. I tried.

Also yes it is after a couple runs so I think that's why. Like, I have Atomizer in my last run and the next run I will randomly have small bullets, but then occasionally it will be random and give me HUGE Boy bullets even though I didn't have that upgrade.

(1 edit)

Not quite sure why this is happening, if you're able to track down why it is please do tell me!

Oh yeah also something is really weird. Sometimes if I reload the game it still has the glitch so maybe it isn't because of my previous runs..?

OOH wait did you have the "plan ahead' upgrade? It gives you a free random upgrade next run.

Pretty sure not. And also, the FIRST time I go into an upgrade shop in the glitched run I have no upgrades. Also the glitch happens randomly so one second I'm shooting normal bullets and then suddenly it's HUGE Boy bullets for like 3 seconds.

Cool game, but so many upgrades are OP and some are underpowered. Also a lot of the guns suck.

I'm glad you found it cool. Could you give me some of the names of the OP or underpowered upgrades so I could try and balance them out?

(+1)

Okay these are some of OP stuff so uh yeah

The One feels OP not gonna lie. I mean like literally. Sure it might take longer but it's better than getting ganged up by like 10 enemies that shoot bullets. I feel like The One could be debuffed by either making the attacks of the enemies bigger (like Bullets or Explosions) and increasing the health a little more but idk. Literally, using The One with like Minigun paired with any other fast reloading upgrades essentially makes it like nothing to kill them. That brings me to Minigun and other fast reloading upgrades.

Fast reloading upgrades are kind of OP

  1. Sloth Bullets' debuff needs to be worse.
  2. Minigun needs a debuff, like less damage or something.
  3. Ratatata kind of too fast but honestly it's kind of okay.
  4. A few others could also be debuffed

Ant is OP. The debuff can literally be used as a buff. I mean, the smaller you are the less likely you will be hit by bullets and other stuff, and the fast moving also makes it less likely to be hit. Also, why is Ant stackable?!?! You can probably shrink to like microsized GRN with 3 Ants.

Monkey Mode isn't that OP but the higher recoil from shooting can be used as an escape mechanism if paired with fast reloading upgrades.

Glass Cannon. Itself it isn't that OP but paired with either The One or any fast reloading upgrade THAT THING BECOMES A KILLING MACHINE. Glass Cannon + Minigun + Ratatata + The One + (Anything) = COMPLETE MURDER. Like sure you have the 1 health problem but with The One, you have essentially NOTHING to worry about.

Health Recycle kind of makes you invincible. I mean, as long as you have the health to tank it and the speed to take the health pickups, you're essentially invincible! Also, pairing this with Coin Galore makes it easy to get coins without risking death because when you get hit, you get your health back anyway! Just use Ant and have two Health Recycles. You now have 14 health and speed to take health pickups. Health Recycle can probably be debuffed by making the max health increase into only +1 and the health back idk, maybe only a chance of happening? Like 40% but stackable? So you'd need three Health Recycles for it to be the same and honestly that's ok.

Disperse + Minigun. Literally the only problem with this is lag. (which can be really bad at times so ehhh)

There are probably more but these are the only things I think would be best if debuffed. Moving on to Underpowered.

Giant SUCKS. Bigger = More likely to get hit. Slower = Also more likely to get hit. At least make the slowness not that bad or the bigger not that bad. The only good thing about Giant is the health increase. If I wanted Giant, I would use Tank instead. At least I don't get bigger.

Cross Creep is also kind of underpowered. Aiming is much harder and the slower reload makes it even worse. I think the reload should not be this slow.

Tactical Ouchie is okay but you risk yourself dying from bombs.

Retreat should NOT have a penalty. It should just be something like idk you get slowness for a while? Anything that isn't a penalty.

The only thing that can make The One bad is Economic Boom. Sure you have more pickups but it might just kill you BECAUSE THEY EXPLODE. Plus you can use more upgrades that make certain pickups disappear faster, which will KILL YOU faster.

Huge L is kind of useless. Sure you shoot in two directions but it's not like you can really aim with that.

Boom Bam Boom is kind of useless. Enemies chase you anyway so it's hard to bait one into a wall (because you'd also have to be in that wall) to explode them without exploding yourself. It's really only a kamikaze thing.

Charge is not that bad but could be buffed. Charge is mainly a sniping upgrade but it's kind of hard to use Charge due to the fact that you can only aim up, down, left, right, so you can't really snipe stuff. Charge could probably be OP when used right but the debuff makes it bad. Charge + Homing could work but eh.

Ant Colony only works with Disperse, Misfire or Buckshot (maybe some faster reloading stuff too). Also Ant Colony is extremely hard to survive with unless you have a lot of max health increases and Health Recycle.

There are probably more but these are the only ones I could think of.

WOW thanks for such a lengthy reply. I'll definitely look into fixing the upgrades mentioned for next update. Thanks again!

Also please buff guns. Literally all of them suck. I can't really think of much ways to buff them but I have thought of some gun buffs.

Laser should have a little more accuracy and more damage.

Rocket Launcher could be changed. Like the projectile would do the damage of 2x the normal bullet but the explosion does half, so like splash damage (I'm not sure if this is in the game yet).

The bombs from Bomb Launcher (Idk if this is the correct name I forgor) should detonate faster and also deal damage when the projectile hits the enemy, not just when it explodes.

Boomerang should go in the normal direction for longer before going back.

etc

(1 edit)

Awesome game, but PLEASE add some sort of object pool to your bullets, its hard to play with 3 fps

Glad you liked it! Just worked on it and object pooling will come in the next update, and I've got to say, performance is looking WAY better in my tests. I'll inform you when the update is live.

Oki dokie I've updated the game with object pooling for the bullets. If you do get a TON of bullets at some point, the game will start to drop frames a bit, however. Thanks for the suggestion!

(1 edit)

Quite a good game. Hard as f*ck though, or maybe I'm just not playing it the right way yet.

I would suggest to make the disappear time of coins and hearts a bit longer so you can pick them up a little bit easier.

And, I think a brief moment of invulnerability and ghost-mode after a hit would help, because if you now get surrounded you will never be able to get out because you get bumped around, doesn't feel fair.

Also, do hits stack? I've got the feeling that if you get hit by multiple enemies or bullets they all count, ties in with the invulnerability I mentioned above.

But anyways, pretty cool game I keep coming back to :)

I'm happy you liked the game! There is some invincibility frames whenever you get hit but it seems to be not too helpful, I might make it last longer.

only complain is that it can be hard to collect the coins sometimes, I would add a system where the coins on screen at the end of the wave jump to the payer

aside from that the game is great!

I'm glad you enjoyed the game! In the most recent update I made the coin and health collect range bigger so its easier to collect. There are also upgrades that bring the pickups to you!

PROS

--The game is very fun and the variety of enemies is very good.

--The colors are very nice and the simple graphics give it a certain charm.

--The sounds of the game are great and give an excellent feeling of impact.

CONS

--The game economy often gives you two options: buy something bad or buy nothing. (I suggest you increase the amount of coins)

--The item collection area is too small. forcing you to stop and aim at it in order to collect it (just make it bigger like X2)

--Most upgrades are not worth buying as they have more downsides than upsides.

--The laiser weapon is horrible, (It would be much better for you to start with it and have better weapons to buy, (instead of taking the risk of buying a bad weapon and dooming your game)

CONCLUSION:

(All I said is my honest opinion, I'm not trying to put your game down, but just giving you tips on how it should improve)

it's a very promising game, with these fixes and the implementation of "achievements" I can see myself playing several hours of it. Good luck

(-1)

This has been very helpful to read through. About the game economy: would you suggest I lower the prices of the upgrades or should I increase coin spawn chance?

It's more fun to have more objects to pick up I guess

Ok ok I'll up the coin spawn chance. I'll look into balancing out the upgrades by altering and removing some downsides. Thanks again for the feedback.

Hey I didn't implement achievements but I did add challenges for you to do. I feel like that's pretty close to having achievements.

Great game, I really enjoyed it but sometimes the player wouldn't pick up any items.

I'm really glad you enjoyed! When you say items wouldn't be picked up, do you mean coins and health pickups?

Yeah.

I'll make sure to look into that.
